A quality product that looks good and can stand the test of time
Cathy and Peter always knew plantation shutters would be the ideal window treatment for their renovated 1960’s beachside home, but deciding which company to use to build and install plantation shutters was a much harder decision.
In fact, 5 years after completing their renovation of their Freshwater home, they were still living with the original dusty, mouldy, bent and broken venetian blinds that came with their home.
“Window treatments are a long-term investment so we wanted to ensure we were investing in a quality product that would not only look good, but also stand the test of time. Several of our friends had bad experiences with shutter suppliers not delivering on time and not delivering the product they promised.
So when a mutual friend introduced us to Curtains, Blinds +design owner Rachael Whatson it was such a relief because we knew we’d finally found the right person for the job.”
Rachael really listened to what we needed
“Right from the very first meeting we were super impressed with Rachael. She turned up on time, had examples to show us what the shutters would look like and was an absolute pleasure to deal with.
After an initial measurement of the windows, she quoted the price for the job and gave us a clear timeline for more detailed measurement and installation of the shutters. We were unsure about whether to install the shutters into our bathroom or to go with a different window treatment but that was no problem at all.
Rachael and her team measured and quoted on the bathroom shutters and showed us the option of a slimmer blade to suit the smaller bathroom window. Nothing was too much trouble, with the team coming back to install the bathroom shutters at a later date for us once we’d finally made the decision to go ahead with them.”
Plantation shutters really suit our seaside location
“When we renovated our 1960s Freshwater home to bring it into the 21st century, we always knew plantation shutters would be the perfect window treatment for our home. We wanted to embrace and keep the beautiful traditional elements that we liked, such as the high ceilings and cornices, but do this in a style that is timeless and yet also modern.
Plantation shutters really suit the casual beachy lifestyle we have here – they give our home that classic Hamptons look. But living so close to the beach we needed to ensure our shutters would not rust with the strong salty southerly sea breeze we get roaring up our hill, become mouldy with Sydney’s humidity, or yellow over time.
It was a relief to know that our shutters came fully backed with a 20 year warranty, and are made from a solid, non-toxic, recyclable material that has the appearance of wood but is far more durable.
We also love the hidden split tilt rod that lets us adjust the shutters according to the angle of the sun or the direction of the breeze. We can open our shutters up for easy cleaning, which is a vast improvement on our old dusty venetion blinds that gave us all hayfever and were impossible to clean!”
Our home is lighter and brighter – we couldn’t be happier with the result!
“We are so glad that we found Rachael and the team from Curtains, Blinds +design. She’s given our home the finishing touch it was waiting for, with a quality product that can withstand our seaside location.
The entire job was done on budget and on time and we really couldn’t be happier with the result.
Our home is lighter, brighter and just so much nicer to live in now, thanks to Rachael and the team from Curtains, Blinds +design.”
